Smaller identity design projects

Following are some of the smaller identity design projects I have worked on over the years.

MDA (Mullins Dowse Architects) is an architecture firm based in Woodbridge, UK.

Kesar Jewellers is a fine jewellery brand based in New Delhi, India.

Vehere is a research and development company (based in Kolkata, India) that provides specialised consultancy and services in homeland security, defence and cyber security.

Identity Design

Based on the brief, the idea was to focus on the abbreviation of the full name as they wanted to move away from the name of the founders yet not totally lose the connect they have with their existing clients and the goodwill of the firm in the community. The client didn't want something that tried to unnecessrily intellectualise the design. Thus, I focussed on the form of the letters and simplified them to the bare minimum and utilised the positive and negative spaces optimally to make the letters legible.

Kasturi is another name for the musk deer found in the Indian Himalayas and are an endangered specie. Historically, the scent glands from these deer were used to create the musk fragrance and also some medicines.

The overall form of the logo is inspired by the deer’s head and the dense foliage of forests. The logotype has been kept simpler yet it balances with the logo with its thick and thin lines and the subtle exaggerations in the letters ‘K’ and ‘U’.

Being a consultancy, the symbol represents convergence of different people. Also, this convergence is synonymous with the fact that Vehere’s portfolio of services and products is a convergence of several specialised streams of expertise. The three V shapes come together to make a person with open arms giving a positive feeling of being amiable and approachable.
